Information for Best Paper/Poster Awards of Myanmar Health Research Congress
1 Following an initial screening of the submitted research papers and posters, the Academic Committee of Myanmar Health Research Congress transfers the eligible ones to the Best paper/poster selection subcommittee for further assessment.
2 The awards comprise “Best Basic Research Paper”, “Best Applied Research Paper”, “Best Health System Research Paper”, “Bester Poster” and “Young Researcher Awards for Basic, Applied and Health System Research.
3 The research papers within the acceptable word limits and posters are assessed for the fulfillment of scientific merit by using the marking schemes based on the Best Paper/Poster Selection Criteria.
4 There are strict rules: author blinding at three stages and the restriction of giving scores by subcommittee members who are authors/co-authors.
5 Those who submit the research papers/posters are encouraged to include the main facts mentioned in the criteria.
6 The research papers/posters which have been presented elsewhere, those wholly or partially carried out abroad and those submitted later than the deadline will not be considered for the award selection.
Criteria for best basic research paper selection
1 Applicability: contribution to science, originality, implications
2 Design, methodology and results: title, scientifically sound design and adequate description of methods, results
3 Relevant discussion and Inference
4 References
5 Effort and/or Innovation
6 Presentation : oral communication, audiovisual aids, discussion, keeping on time
Criteria for best applied research paper selection
1 Applicability: type of benefit, extent of usefulness, how much benefit
2 Design, methodology and results: title, scientifically sound design and adequate description of methods, results
3 Discussion and Inference
4 References
5 Effort and/or Innovation
6 Presentation : oral communication, audiovisual aids, discussion, keeping on time
Criteria for best Health System Research Paper selection
1 Applicability: type of benefit, extent of usefulness
2 Design, methodology and results: title, scientifically sound design and adequate description of methods, results
3 Discussion and Inference
4 References
5 Effort and/or Innovation
6 Presentation : oral communication, audiovisual aids, discussion, keeping on time
Criteria for best research poster selection
1 Applicability to current pressing problem
2 Title design, methodology and results
3 Effort and Innovation
4 Discussion and Inference
5 Can the person who reads it grasp the idea of what is being imparted within 4-5 minutes?
6 Can the poster convince the reader regarding the importance of issue in question easily?
7 Is the presentation attractive and simple enough to lure the onlookers to read it? eg. colours, photos, graphs etc.
Criteria for the Young Researcher Award selection
1 Follow the same guideline for basic, applied, health system research
2 Principal investigator must be under 35 years at the time of abstract submission, rank not higher than Assistant Lecturer, Research Scientist, Assistant Director and who is not a previous awardee.
