The Myanmar Health Research Congress is an annual event of various Departments under the Ministry of Health and Sports as a symbol of coordination, cooperation and, collaboration. The first Burma Medical Research Conference was held in 1965. Since then, the Research Conferences were organized in the form of Research Congress, Research Conference or Research Paper Reading Session collecting to 49 events by the year 2021 and poster session has been included since 1990. There are total 2598 scientific research papers and 629 posters have been presented. Starting from 2003, Symposia are held annually at the research congress. Best research papers for Basic Research, Applied Research, Health System Research and best posters have been awarded since 1993. And starting from 2010, three young researcher awards have been created for young scientists in Basic Research, Applied Research and Health System Research categories. The theme for the 47th Myanmar Health Research Congress in 2019 was “Ensure WASH; a global agenda to improve quality of life”, “Antimicrobial Resistance: A Threat of Global Concern” in 2020 and “Experiences from the COVID-19 Pandemic” in 2021. Indeed, each and every year, the Congress brings both national and international researchers together for exchanging their views, thoughts and innovative ideas to serve as a driving force in their future plans to meet the specific health needs of the country.
The aim of Myanmar Health Research Congress is to improve the standard of health care by promoting health research capacity and to distribute/ provide the health research findings to end users
